For 2013 Food4Macc has a programme of Talks, Demonstrations and Visits for vegetable growers, offering advice on topics listed below. You can swap surplus seeds, plants and produce, or pick the brains of experienced gardeners, some of whom have agreed to act as mentors.
If you don’t have anywhere to grow vegetables at the moment, you could make use of a disused plot under our Garden Share Scheme. (see website for sites).

Social Evening.
Our pick-up venue on Chestergate, the Amuse Cafe-bar has been running a £10 a head Friday night supper club for some weeks, and we have had excellent reports.
Julia Marshall of Amuse has offered to run a special Thursday night supper for us, offering the attached menu.
Anyone even remotely interested in Food4Macc’s work and meeting the people involved, is invited to join us at 7.15. Please book via email to food4macc@gmail.com by Monday 10th June
It will be a very informal evening with no recruitment activity (!), so come along and enjoy good company and an excellent 3 course meal at an unbeatable price.

A visit to this extraordinary garden last year was quite inspiring, showing a huge range of fruit and vegetables growing amongst flowers.
It is a beautiful and productive garden amply demonstrating what can be achieved with organic methods.

Teggs Nose Bilberry Pick organised by Ranger Martin James, with guidance on Foraging by James Wood & Fergus Drennan. Sat 10-1pm. Teggs Nose.
Healthy, organic, tasty and free. Bilberry, blueberry, blaeberry, whin; whatever you want to call them they grow wild all over Tegg’s Nose and all you have to do is bring a container and get picking. The Food4Macc team will be on hand with foraging expert James Wood to explain the best places to look and will provide more information about where to source great local food.

Summer Produce Show:
Our third annual summer produce show has moved to a new date to coincide with August's Treacle market and will be held under cover on St Michael's Church lawn beside the Town Hall.
Drop off your best garden produce, bread, cakes etc. between 10am and 12 midday. Winners announced 2.15pm.

Chicken Keeping – how to get started.
It is quite easy to start keeping a few chickens at home, and if you don't buy a cockerel, there won't be any early morning noise problems!
This talk will explain where to get your chickens and the equipment you need, and how to look after them.

Tree Pruning Workshop.
